    Hi!
I’m using capo.js for performance improvement and I’d like to have the Rank Math SEO meta tags reordered. Is there any filter that would allow this? Something like add_filter('rank_math/metatags/priority', 999);?

    Thanks!

    Hello @gyurmey,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math support.

We don’t have a filter to reorder or change the priority of the meta tags. Unless an optimization plugin adds minified JS or CSS files above them, they are placed correctly in the source code.

Please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

Thanks for the answer! But shouldn’t meta tags have lower priority? They even come before the <title> tag.

    Hello @gyurmey,

By default Rank Math adds the <title> tag before all the meta tags. So, it seems like the <title> tag of your website is added by your theme or any other plugin. To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

Hello, this is a fresh install with default theme and RankMath SEO (nothing else). The <title> tag is after all the meta tags.

    Hello @gyurmey,

We are able to replicate this on our end with the default theme. The title tag is coming from the theme. If you switch to any other theme like Schema, the title tag will be added above our meta tags.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Hi,

The Twenty Twenty-Three theme doesn’t even have a functions.php file so this can’t come from the theme.

Edit: Here is an example with the All in One SEO plugin.

    Hello,

We tested other default themes like Twenty-twenty-one and the issue is not happening there so it seems that the issue is only happening on Twenty-twenty-three.

With that said, our development team is aware of this and if there’s any improvement, we will let you know.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Unfortunately, the issue has not been resolved and still occurs.

    Hello,

We had an internal discussion and it seems like that having the title after meta tags would not make any difference.

Since this happens only in some themes like 2024, there is probably something different in the theme’s code. We can hardly do anything to make exceptions for a few themes because that will bloat the RM plugin. Instead, the theme devs can work with the standards set by all other themes for SEO.

Other SEO plugins are also producing the same HTML tags.

Hope that clears the confusion and helps.
