    Hi

I have a Magento 1.9.4 website which I’m seriously considering moving to Woocommerce. Will I have to edit each product after the data import and use some other plugin to implement my product ‘custom options’? All products are simple products…

Also, how do I implement the redirects as Woocommerce product URLs include the /product/ segment in their URL slugs so all my Magento product URLs will need to have 301 redirects?

Both these features are features of the Premium version.

You don’t have to edit the products or the redirects manually.

To see if you need other add-ons, you just have to click on the button “Test the database connection”. It will check your Magento database, and will tell you in the logs if you need other add-ons.

OK sounds good. Have you got any documentation about those two features, especially managing re-directs? I have looked on your website but I cannot see anything?

In the Premium version, you have a checkbox: “Redirect the Magento URLs”. You just have to select it.
Please note that the redirects are managed by the plugin. So the plugin needs to be active to redirect the URLs. The .htaccess is not modified.

    Hi Fred

Two more questions: Which plugin are you referring to for the redirects?

And given that I’m working on a live site, it is possible to import all of the products first then, when we are ready to launch import the customers and orders ie in two steps? Otherwise, the data won’t match the existing live site. Can you explain how I do that in any detail?

PS I have successfully imported the products with no real issues, but I haven’t imported the media yet, but the products imported fine, so providing I’m happy I will likely buy the premium version.

The redirects are done by the plugin FG Magento to WooCommerce Premium: https://www.fredericgilles.net/fg-magento-to-woocommerce/

Yes, it is possible. In the partial import section (Premium version only), you can choose the items you don’t want to import. So you can choose to not import the customers and the orders in a first step.
In any case, each time you click on the Import button, it imports only the data that have not been imported yet, without overwriting or duplicating the already imported data.

One final question relating to the redirects. I’m creating a staging development site before I migrate. When I do this, normally once I’m ready to migrate I do a replace and replace on the dev site domain and swap that for the live site domain. Do you have any recommendations to manage that process? I don’t want to mess up the redirects when I do the final search and replace.

Yes, you can use the plugin WP Migrate DB to replace the URLs properly in the database.
    It won’t affect the redirects.
