• hi,
I am working on a site that uses the Barely Corporate theme running WP 3.0.4, I have created a navigation menu using the ‘menus’ feature in WP Admin, but as you can see here https://www.workyourselfout.com/wordpress the menu isn’t appearing.

If you look at the source code the menu is being outputted, but isn’t visible.

The other issue (as reported by a few other people) is the primary navigation menu not saving in the ‘theme locations’ panel. i.e I create the menu then select it from the drop down as my primary nav but and hit save but when I refresh it is no longer selected.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated. I have contacted the theme developer but he doesn’t know what is causing this issue.

    cheers,
    thanks

    Ryan

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress?

    – increasing the memory available to PHP?

Same trouble here. I’m confounded. No idea why the navigation has stopped “saving”. The menu defaults to the last created menu. Setting the primary menu to an alternate menu does nothing. I have tried the above and no change.

found no issue with navigation if using the Twentyten theme. but reactivating my theme it no longer saves or recognizes the primary navigation setting. Any idea where I should check?

I have the very same problem. The custom menu works well with Twenty Ten, but does not work with my child-theme based on Twenty Ten, even if this is a newly-created, completely blank child theme (no other files than the style.css, which only contains the base conditional comments). I can define a custom menu as the Primary Navigation, but it is not saved. The same thing happens if I try to change the header image (with one of the Twenty Ten supplied images).

The problem should not be linked to memory or plugins, since Twenty Ten is not affected (I tested it anyway). I also found out it is not linked to the WordPress language specified in wp-config,php, as I tested a switch from French to the default English.

This problem affected all the custom-menu supporting themes I tried to modify. I restarted everything today with a fresh install of WordPress 3.0.5 and a new database.

I am using MAMP on Mac OS 10.5.8, if that could give a hint.

    Any ideas?
