I have 2 custom names added .. title and google-site-verification

Whenever I hit the save button they get deleted.

    e.g. I add title … save it … fine
    I then add google-site-verification … save it .. it’s fine, but title get’s blatted !
I then update the title one to type “title” back in .. save it .. it’s fine, but then google-site-verification get’s blatted !

hi, can you confirm where specifically you’re adding these (to a post, the settings page, somewhere else?), and some example values so I can test it out?

Also, I’m not sure what you mean by ‘blatted’ ?? Does the whole meta tag get removed or just values of the field?

I am adding these to “Front Page”

I meant the custom bit I typed in just gets reset to blank.

In the main list of meta fields I’ve entered, after I hit save, where it used to say name=”title” it then says name=”…”

In summary, I only appear to be able to add 1 custom name to front page … As soon as I add or amend a second one, the custom value I typed in for the other one gets blanked out.

Thanks, by “Front Page”, do you mean the WP page that’s assigned to the front-page and you’re editing the actual page itself, or you’re assigning the meta tag to only show on the front page via the MTM settings page?

I’ve tried this out myself on a regular WP page and on the settings page, and I’m not replicating so I need some detailed steps on exactly what you’re adding. A screenshot may be helpful, take one before submitting and showing the open form with some test values you’d like to submit, and then show me the end result in another one.

    Hi.
I’ve got a screenshot but not sure how to attached it here.
    Anyway here’s my steps
    1. Click add meta tag
    2. choose type of “name” from dropdown .. and type in “custom1” in value field. Enter whatever you like in “content attribute” as this is just to reproduce issue.
    3. In “where to display tag” remove “All pages” and instead add “Front Page”
    4. Hit save
    5. Repeat and add a new tag with a value of “custom2”
    6. Hit save

    Value of custom1 is lost

    Also try this

    1. Click add meta tag
    2. choose type of “name” from dropdown .. and type in “custom1” in value field. Enter whatever you like in “content attribute” as this is just to reproduce issue.
    3. In “where to display tag” remove “All pages” and instead add “Front Page”
    4. Hit save a couple of times

Open up the detail of the tag you’ve just entered .. in the editable section of the page, the “name value” seems to forget “custom1” and now says “choose a value or type in a custom one…”

I also see same issue, if you add a custom tag, and then once saved, open and close the detail of that tag a few times, on the 2nd and subsequent opening, the “name value” field gets reset to “choose a value or type a custom one…”

in the readonly section of the tag ( i.e. the bit at the top which says <meta name=”abc” content=”anything”/> .. it correctly shows the custom tag I entered ( i.e. abc ), but in the editable part it has gone, meaning that if I hit save again, it’ll get saved as blank.

Note: I’m doing this via the MTM settings page.

I’m managing to reproduce something similar now, the problem seems to be with custom values, saving and reloading the page causes issues.

I’ve just updated the plugin with a fix, I think that’ll resolve the problem for you. Let me know if that works out for you (or not!)
