It seems to me that it would be more secure to use custom folder names for the paths to wordpress’s work files.

    <i>Instead of </i>
    wp-admin
    wp-content
    wp-images
    wp-includes

I would like to use my own folder names. Is there a configuration setting in wordpress that will allow these paths to be simply switched?

  • There was a recent thread about removing the wp- from all of the files names for similar reasons. You might want to search and read through that. The problem will be that you will have to update every reference in the core files where it is looking for a folder, so that it is looking for your new folder name.

    Hmmm….

So, it involves a big manual php coding project then.
Well, I guess that tells me what I needed to know…

If you have a URI to that thread you mention, please let me know.
I didn’t discover anything when I originally searched the forum
looking for information on this topic.

If you have a decent text editor, you can do global replacements on all of the files at once (BBEdit for Mac allows this), but I wouldn’t want to do it ??
