I use the basic Elementor image elements to display photos in my posts. I have been using the custom image size option to ensure that images are the same aspect ratio and look good when positioned next to each other.

This method works great when I am composing a post in the Elementor editor. Works exactly how I’d expect it to. The problem comes up when I switch over to the public view, what anyone visiting my webpage will see. The public page reverts back to the original, non-cropped image, which looks ugly.

Examples of both are shown here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/008ZFxWTZYcqHx6Z2

In this example, every image is set to be 600 x 338 pixels.

Is this something I am doing wrong, or is Elementor just broken?

That’s unfortunate. Any way to reopen it? Given that many of us, me included, pay for Elementor Pro I would hope that this gets some attention and gets resolved.

Alternatively, if this does not look like it is going to be fixed, any recommendations for other plugins that do offer this function instead of using Elementor?

There is always the option of opening a ticket using your Pro level access to support. The volunteer moderators here often frown upon any mentioning of Pro even if the issue at hand has nothing to do with Pro or it’s added features. This can lead to grey areas of interpretation and perception and I find it’s best not to even mention Pro if it can be avoided.

I see you also added a comment to the Github issue and not sure how/when/if the team is aware of new comments on an already closed issue but one can always open a new issue that links to the closed one.

I personally just haven’t had time to follow through on this one so I just uploaded images resized for my needs.
