I’ve found the posts that suggest creating an image gallery, in order to have custom image links (e.g. a portfolio category). How can I accomplish that, but also retain the “Portfolio Full” text hover effect on the images?

Basically – a home page with a row of three custom image links, all having the portfolio hover effect (i.e. image title copy appears at the bottom of the image on hover).

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi,
    Sorry for the delay!
The premium theme has an option similar to this. See here- https://themes.kadencethemes.com/virtue-premium-3/
There isn’t really a built in way to make this work in the free version. Sorry!

    Oops – spoke too soon!

I’ve tried this option, and many variations (e.g. Page Builder widgets). I really like your solution –?unfortunately the client doesn’t. ??

It also looks like the portfolio and carousel image links take precedence over the WP Custom Image Links plugin. Images were added to media with the desired URL, but the portfolio still takes them to the corresponding portfolio link.

    Here’s the site

They would really like it to look just like the first three sections below the content copy, with each image going to the portfolio type, rather than the featured image. And, they really like the current hover effect.

    Thanks for all the help!

    Hey,
I’m not sure I understand but you can add a carousel or a grid gallery using the virtue: gallery widget or just using add media on a page. Then the gallery will show images (not posts) so those images can have custom links,

Thanks again, but the issue is retaining the “caption hover” styling effect of the “Full Portfolio” home layout element. With “Full Portfolio,” a caption appears on the bottom of the image during hover (black text on opaque white – right at the bottom of the image).

The “Full Portfolio” styling example is the first three square images, halfway down the page:

Creating images with custom links using other widgets/media/carousels is no problem. The kicker is the “styling” option I’m trying to retain. The only style they like is the “Full Portfolio” – the caption that appears on the bottom of the image during hover. Does that help?

That’s the exact look they’re asking for –?I’m trying to push for simpler alternatives!

    Hey,
So you can use the gallery as i said. In a gallery you can enable “captions” Which show on hover just like the portfolio. see here: https://themes.kadencethemes.com/virtue-premium/wordpress-gallery/

Scroll down to the carousel gallery, several of those images have a caption so you can see an example.

Finally! I thought I had tried everything.

Thanks again for the help. It’s a great theme, and your fast support communication is best of all.
