custom image header

I would like to have my sub pages have the option to select an image header for each page that is created. So, I would like to have the ability to select a ‘news’ image in my admin panel for my news page. So when I create pages, I could select a dropdown for which header image I want on the page.

Any documentation, examples of sites doing this or how to get started would be appreciated.
