I am trying to set my home page to display static, but when I go to Settings > Reading and click static, then try to set my home page as the front page, it does not show up. I believe it is because the theme I am using (Pratt) has the home page set as custom. I know this because when I go to Appearance > Menus the home page is custom. Because of the theme, I do not have to add a page called Home. My website is https://www.energybasis.com/

I want to be able to post something on my Market Commentary page, and have it also show up on my Home page. I want to keep both pages separate.

Also, when I click on my post on my main page it takes me to post and the post name is in the banner, when it should say Market Update.

Hi, the Pratt theme doesn’t set the home page to anything by default. If you assign a static page in Settings -> Reading then it will use that as the front page. You also have to specify a second page (doesn’t need content, just title and URL) as the blog page. You definitely do have to add both a home page and a blog page. That’s how WordPress designed it to work.

Thanks for posting a link to your site and the screenshot of your menu. You must have created that “Home” menu item that says “custom”. If you click on Pages, then View All, you’ll see the “regular” Home menu item that isn’t custom.

You’re Market Commentary page is blank, so I can’t tell what you mean to put there. But if its a regular WordPress Page, then it won’t display on your home page also. Unless you intend for that to be assigned as your “static” home page. Or if that is going to be assigned as your Blog page.

Can you share with me more about what you are trying to do? I think perhaps you want a home page that has some text and a few recent blog posts. Then your Market Commentary page is really your full blog with all your posts. This theme provides a page template you can assign to your home page called “Page – Full Width with Recent Posts” that will do just that.

To see an example, look at my home page.

What I am wanting to do is exactly how your website is..how when you click on ExtremelySocial at the top left and you click on home, both pages display the exact something and has the same url.

The problem that I am having is that the Home page that is set as custom in my menu, I did not create. It was already there. When I go to my pages > all pages, there is not a page called Home.

If I’m in the Menu section, the home page that is set to custom shows up when I click on Pages on the left side then View All, and it still shows up.

I want when I click on EnergyBasis at the top left, I want that to display what is on my home page, and have the same URL and the same page Title as the EnergyBasis & Home page (just as yours says Xtremely Social We create cool Facebook apps and WordPress themes. When you click the XtremelySocial button at the top left and when you click your Home page).

If I delete that custom home page that is in the menu section my page looks like this:

I am fine with how that is, but I want to be able to post straight to my Market Commentary (basically my blog) page, and have my Home Page or the EnergyBasis page have every post that I make on the Market Commentary page to show up there, and be able to post something straight to my Home page.

I think the problem is that since the home page is set as custom (which I haven’t even created a home page) that I cannot go to Settings > Reading and make that custom Home page Static because technically I do not have or did not create a Home page.

I am trying to do exactly how your site is setup. I want to have EnergyBasis on the left and the page buttons on the right.
