    Hi all,

I have had a custom type in my WordPress theme to create header banners for this site a year or so. Following the upgrade to 3.4.1 my Header side menu on the dashboard has disappeared. I can still navigate to the listing page by going to /wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=header but I can’t get my menu item back. This isn’t a problem for me but it’s confusing my client.

So my question is, is this because my custom type is called ‘header’? Do i need to change this as a result of the new header stuff that WordPress 3.4 now provides? Is my choice of custom type name causing issues?

Any info would be most helpful as I’m pretty stumped right now!

    Cheers, Mike

So it turns out one of the plugins I have installed was specifying the same menu_position variable as my custom header type. This was causing my custom type to be dropped out of the menu. Changing the menu_position value brought it back.
