Custom Header position in Twenty Twelve reverting to below Site Navigation

    Thank you for your help.

    This is the second time my site header has changed position without my doing anything I know of. It appears to happen every 6 months.
    My custom header reverts to below the site navigation, and page color changes to white, while picture cut-outs/insertions are visible.

    Do you know why this happens, how I can stop it from happening again, and how to fix the current challenge?
