I have created a custom header in My Library and selected it as my custom header. I have used the Elementor Custom Menu widget within the header and all looks good on my PC.

However, when I shrink the screen or view on a phone the menu just wraps around instead of providing the hamburger icon and its drop-down. Is there a simple fix for this?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hello,

OceanWP doesn’t control the Elementor menu. Try to use the Custom Header Nav widget to fix it.

I played around with that too, but couldn’t find any obvious ways to style it.

Feels like I am being forced by Elementor to upgrade the site to Elementor Pro for such a small bit of functionality ??

And surprise surprise, Elementor say its an issue with OceanWP.

    Here is their response:
Upon checking your dashboard I noticed the menu was not built using Elementor nav-menu widget. It is a custom menu coming from your theme and in this case, we kindly recommend reporting this issue to the third-party theme author, they’d be in a better position to address this issue or assist you with this. Unfortunately, we do not have control over the theme’s code and we are not aware of its functionalities.

Actually they have been excellent and logged onto my site to have another more detailed look.

They confirm that the issue is indeed with OceanWP as it uses div.oceanwp-custom-menu. They then changed my theme to Twenty Twenty and hey presto, the menu works fine and uses a hamburger when displayed on a mobile device.

They have offered to help OceanWP with the issue if they open an issue on their Github account. Not sure where to go from here. Change the theme or get the Pro version of Elementor seem to be the options, unless there is some clever CSS that would fix this.

I’m not able to view the site anymore since it is in the maintenance mode. Can you disable it temporarily so that I can take a look again?

Done, and thanks for your help

Yes, you are now using Ocean Custom Menu. I’ll suggest you use the ‘>>Custom Header Nav’ widget instead of the ‘ocean custom menu’ widget to fix this issue.

I’ve been using the custom header widget all along. With the Custom Header Nav widget I can’t see any way to customise the font, colour etc so it’s not really usable. But surely the Custom Header widget should work anyway?

@cufcmark custom header nav widget displays the main menu. So if you are using it, kindly go to Customize > header > menu and customize it. For font size, Customize > Typography > Main Menu section.
