I am building a small site that allows individuals to register as a user, and have access to a custom post type that will provide profile information about that user. I want the profile to have an “edit” option that once selcted, allows users to edit their content WITHOUT seein the WP Dashboard. Is there a way to do this with custom post types, preferably without a plugin?

    Thanks

  • This can be done with a plugin but otherwise would require a lot of custom development that would be way beyond what I think anyone in this forum would be able to provide.

My company sells a plugin that does this and it’s a complicated undertaking. There may may also be some free plugin combinations that could pull this off but I’m not aware of any right off.

Thanks James. I’m not opposed to plugins, but do try to avoid dependence on them. What’s your solution?

I don’t feel right about promoting a paid plugin on the free WordPress forums. It’s called Front-End Editor and it’s an add-on for Ninja Forms which is a free form creation plugin. If you have any question about that you can ask from our site and we would deb happy to assist.

Again, there may be other free plugins that proceed together would do everything you are looking for.
