Custom folder deleted by update

I have created a custom PDF template and it works perfectly, but the recent update to WooCommerce deleted the child folder for the custom template. I had followed the directions on the plugin:
Want to use your own template? Copy all the files from wp-content/plugins/woocommerce-pdf-invoices-packing-slips/templates/Simple to your (child) theme in wp-content/themes/storefront/woocommerce/pdf/yourtemplate to customize them

It seems that maybe it means that I must create a child theme to import the template and custom function?
