• I design small websites, “advertising portals” with basic contact and PayPal payments etc. Nothing BIG.

I work in english and spanish from Spain, and have used this plugin often, finding it a super-logical way of mapping translations.

My problem: some times I have Latin American sites to design, for example I am currently building a site for a client in Panamá. To date I have found no way of making the custom URL for the flags to work. If I put the site in castellano I get a Spanish flag, I want the Panamá flag to display.

Toggling between the UK and the USA flags seems to function, if the site is in british english the British flag does display (similarly with Canada and USA).

Any help would be appreciated – thanks.

    Hi,

you can define a directory with your custom flags. Did you try this option?

    Cheers,

    Hi Dennis,

Yes, I tried defining a directory, I even put directories in various places within public_html, That’s to say in the web root, in the wp-content directory, in the theme directory. I also copied the URL to the Panamá flag within the MSLS plugin directory. All resulted in “broken images”.

I am still playing with this to try and get it working. Normally my translations are for Spain so no problem. If I manage to get it working I’ll post here with how I ended up solving it.

I would also like to take the opportunity to thank you for this plugin – to me it is the most logical way of making my sites multi-language – and I have used it a lot.

    Vielen dank!

    Still no luck.

SERIOUSLY UGLY WORKROUND: I renamed the Panamá flag in the plugin directory to the spanish one. At least I have the right flag now.

Unfortunately I haven’t the time or the budget to continue experimenting with defining the custom directory.

    Hi,

just copy the entire flag-directory in your (child-)theme-directory, rename there your Panama flag and insert in the plugin settings your directory-URI like /wp-content/themes/[xyz]/flags…

    [xyz] is your theme directory.

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers,
    Dennis.
