Custom Fields problem

Hi,

I have to sections in my sidebar, Resources and News

I have a loops displaying most recent post titles for each group.

I added custom fields to override the default recent posts. Basically if someone wants to see a different text rather than recent posts they can use custom fields in the post editor.

It works when I add a replacement content for

Resources and News

it also works when I add a replacement for Resources
It does not work when I Add text to the News and leave Resources field empty.

I hope this make sense.
