Custom Field Names Missing From Drop Down

So I just ran into a strange issue that I haven’t seen before and couldn’t find any info about it here on the forums.

I was working with a site that had a good number of custom fields that were all showing up in the drop down menu. Some of them were really common, like thumbnail, and are included in over 1,000 posts. At some point recently, the list of custom fields names was being cut off around the letter “L”.

I tested it out and added a new post with a new custom field named “AA”. That custom field is now showing up above all others…so adding new custom fields isn’t the problem. Also, the number of custom fields listed in the drop down increased, so I don’t think there’s a limit.

So I guess we’re looking at the list being cut off after the letter “L”.

Does anyone have any ideas?
