Custom Field Dates need Date Filter option

Filter Everything seems like it might work for many more situations if it supported the Date Range filter setting for custom date fields. The documentation says it only supports the date of the post. In our case, we want the filter to include only future dated items. Conversely, we also would like to show ‘past’ posts where the custom date field is older.
NOTE: These custom field dates are associated with an event or news item, not the internal date of the post (creation or publish).
