    Hi,
    I’m selling digital products /pdfs.
After purchase and before download by the customer, I would need to generate the pdf with some custom information e.g. customer name, expiry date (1 year from purchase), attributes/type of the purchased product etc. Best would be to have a template with fields, that are simply updated by shortcodes.

the step by step, would be as follows :

    1. customer chooses product attributes in shop (type, duration etc)
    2. customer buys and pays
    3. pdf is generated for download, fields in the template are updated with the customers choices and information.
    4. customer receives invoice with either the attached the customised pdf or a download link.

    how can I achieve this?

in my shop im using germanized pro and ebook store pro. maybe one of those are of any help.

thanks for the help in advance,
    Toby

  • Hi! Thanks for your question.

I think you’re asking about providing the customer with a pdf detailing information about their order. Is this separate from the product itself, which is also a pdf?

Would PDF Invoices give you enough customisation options here?

We also have WooCommerce Print Invoices & Packing lists that has customisable invoices.

Let us know some more details and we will be happy to help further!

    Hi,

    thanks for your answer.

I thought about that option as well, but the customization possibility needed would be tremendous (custom template & custom fonts, accurate placements of text etc)

A good example would be a drivers license (that you can order online).
you fill your forms, you buy and then get the document in pdf filled with all your information, expiry date etc

    Thanks for helping,
    Toby

Hi! I see, so the product itself is the pdf. There isn’t an extension specifically in the WooCommerce marketplace that can help with this, however I came up with a combination you could look at trying out – you could use Gravity Forms Product Add-ons to collect the data from the customer on the product page, then look at this flow recommended here by Gravity Forms to generate a PDF from that data. You’d need a Gravity Forms licence, of course.

Beyond that, I’d suggest you try search terms such as “PDF Generator” in the plugin list to see what’s out there! I’d advise checking for regular updates, and good customer reviews if you’re taking a punt on a plugin ??

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.
