Custom Colour doesn't work

I’ve followed instructions on how to create a custom colour for a button, but no matter how many times I try to enter it on a page, it reverts backs to the original colour.
I created a custom class: button-coral, so how do I enter it into the css3? I’m using the Clean Journal theme.
Any pointers please?
