    Hi Carlkrim,

You shouldn’t modify the plugin files because those changes will be lost on a plugin update (the same goes for themes, by the way). It is better to have the developer use one of the available plugin filters or apply the styling changes in a place that won’t be overwritten on an update.

If the changes are purely CSS then I recommend using a plugin like Simple Custom CSS to add the styling rules to your theme.

Hope that helps. If not, let me know!

    Hi Danny,

I upgraded my MailChimp plugin and it completely disappeared. When I try to redownload it, it says I can’t because I already have it.

    Can you help me?

    Hi bebbudhajewelry,

That is strange – by “disappeared” do you mean that it no longer appears in the list of plugins under WP Admin > Plugins?

You should be able to uninstall / completely remove the plugin and then redownload it? None of your changes will be lost and that will most certainly fix it. ??

    HI Danny,

    Thanks for the response.

Yes, it has disappeared from the list of plugins under WP Admin. I can’t find it anywhere to uninstall it. And I can’t reload it because it says I already have it! Help!

Do you have FTP access to your site? If so, then you should be able to remove the mailchimp-for-wp folder under /wp-content/plugins/.

That should allow you to install it again. ??

    What is FTP?

    HI Danny,

Still trying to figure this out! Any way you can help further?

Hi… I probably shouldn’t be replying, but I see you need help… I am just getting started with WordPress myself… but I can tell you what FTP is… stands for File Transfer Protocol… you find a free FTP client (application) on the internet and get the login credentials from your host provider (where your site is located); then you log into your site and delete the plugin as mentioned above.

Or, if your host provides cpanel (an administrative dashboard that lets you create email accounts and get access to your file system on their server), you can get access to your file system that way. If none of this makes sense, call the tech support for your host provider and see if they can help. You may have to hire a tech or find a techy friend to help you with this.
