Custom 404 Page Template for a Custom Taxonomy?

    Hello! I may be Googling inefficiently but I cannot find a way to make a custom 404 page for a category or custom taxonomy.

    There’s a site I’m working on where I would like different content on the category/taxonomy error pages than on the original 404 page. I’ve tried creating 404-taxonomy.php and taxonomy-404.php just for kicks and neither worked. Is it possible?
