The WP options were renamed from heartbeat_location to heartbeat_control_location and heartbeat_frequency to heartbeat_control_frequency, but heartbeat-control-actions was not updated to reflect the new options. On my blog, it simply doesn’t work until I update the get_option named in heartbeat-control-actions.

I also contacted the author with another proposed fix so that the initial ajax response from the heartbeat to the browser includes the heartbeat_interval, preventing the browser from checking the heartbeat at the default interval. Without that fix, I wasn’t seeing this plugin actually change the interval at all.

Disregard the comment about heartbeat-control-actions.php.. it seems like that file was left behind with the new version and no longer used. However, I’m still not seeing the plugin change the internal, so it probably needs the same heartbeat_received / heartbeat_nopriv_received filter that I mentioned in my email to the author for the interval settings to take effect.

@jeffmatson I have an updated version that is functioning. Let me know how you’d like to connect, or message me on twitter, respond to my email and we’ll get it figured out. Thanks for the plugin, just trying to make it work for everyone!

Hey Aaron. Just pushed an update that should handle intervals properly.
