• Using the visual editor, I include a currency symbol on a page. Viewing the page source I see it has not been converted to an HTML entity as it should.

I realise I could add the entity in the HTML editor, but it gets lost when switching back to the visual editor, and the intended users would only be using the visual editor.

    How can I fix this?

I was hoping someone could help with this.

If I enter an ampersand (&) it rightly gets converted to &.

So why, when I enter a pound sign (£), does it not get converted to £?

The 2nd line above should say …converted to & amp; (without the space).

The fact that this was shown as just an ampersand but £ was left untouched suggests my problem is intrinsic to WordPress.

This is not ideal as a page with a pound sign will not validate.

Yep i’m also having the same problem here. I have just tried what you said.

however if I paste £ in the html editor it works fine…weird
