what is wrong with this code?
If you would like to buy a copy of my book, <span style=”color: #ff0000;”>Peter, There’s a Bug on My Plate!</span>, please visit

    Review my book here

is it a problem with this version of wordpress? Can anyone see the actual code?

Maybe it’s not curly quotes maybe it’s ASCII code problems–see below

if those slashes are ‘backticks’ code is between them
a fragment of the code didn’ disappear when > was somehow garbled to read & g t ; without spaces — target=”_blank”>

This is the code – which is not valid code:

    <a href="https://store.brightdoc.com/store/default.asp?clientid=262" title="McCall book order site"></a>

It was the code generated in the html link box when I stripped in a url, typed a title, and selected open in another window

Still not totally clear what you are posting – it’s hard here because code gets parsed – can you try using the code buttons around the entire portion of your code?

Backticks are above the tab key on your keyboard, but you can just use the code button above this box.

I was trying to post a link to a site where a book can be ordered POD and also to a site where it can be reiewed and I used wordpress’s own wizard to do it

You have nothing inside the anchor tags – look at this:

    <a href="https://store.brightdoc.com/store/default.asp?clientid=262" title="McCall book order site">THE LINKED TEXT GOES HERE</a>

    <a href="https://www.readerrap.com/books/peter-theres-bug-my-plate-love-story-35-years-dining" title="Reader Rap">AND HERE</a>

    Without backticks:

    THE LINKED TEXT GOES HERE

    AND HERE

I don’t understand. I did not use backticks on the page but only here to try to follow the instructions for “code”

`Thank you. I feel very silly. It was blank because I pput nothing there. Nothing complicated after all.

    TTHIS WAS NOT WHAT I TYPED–IT CHANGED–WHY????????

ORIGINAL PROLEM OF CORRUPTING CODE NOT SOLVED

NOT SOLVED — CODE SHOULD NOT HAVE CHANGED TO WHAT YOU SHOWED ME.

    don’t close!

Okay, we’ll get this figured out – first, we don’t close threads unless it’s extreme circumstances – even if it’s marked resolved, you can post in it.

Second, please do not use all caps here – it’s considered yelling and is against the forum guidelines.

Try this – type the text that you want to show up as a link – i.e.

    Buy my Book

Then highlight that text and click the link button. In the pop-up box paste the code of the url to the page you want to link to.

    That’s it.
