I had Jetpack working just fine and disconnected momentarily (I regret that now). Then could not reconnect again. I got this error back ‘cURL error 6: Could not resolve host: jetpack.wordpress.com’. I’m running TwentySixteen child theme with a few plugins. My Server Protocol is HTTP/1.1 and PHP Version is 5.3.28

    1. I’ve scoured the WordPress forum as well as other forums on the internet with no resolution to connect JetPack to WordPress.com.
    2. I deactivated all other plugins and same error.
    3. My first suspect was iThemes Security (formerly Better WP Security). I deactivated and removed the plugin since some forum suggested it might be the culprit, it wasn’t.
    4. I switched to plain and unedited TwentySixteen theme and still the same error.
    5. I checked xmlrpc.php and got “XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only.”
    6. Checked the .htaccess file should there be anything there. Unfortunately there was nothing that stood out.
    7. Added “define( ‘JETPACK_SIGNATURE__HTTPS_PORT’, 80 );” to my wp-config file did not work either.
    8. Through a plugin called “Core Control” I momentarily disabled the cURL protocol and did not work either.
    9. Checked the advanced debug results and got the following. RAW TEST RESULTS:
HTTP: cURL error 6: Could not resolve host: jetpack.wordpress.com
HTTPS: cURL error 6: Could not resolve host: jetpack.wordpress.com
    IDENTITY_CRISIS:PASS
SELF:cURL error 6: Could not resolve host: jetpack.wordpress.com

I’ve pretty much used the same setup in more than 30 WordPress sites with very few hiccups. I appreciate any help with this problem.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Can you please use Jetpack’s Debugger module to send us some more information about your site?

    1) Go to the Jetpack page in your dashboard.
    2) Click on the Debug link appearing at the bottom of the page.
    3) Click the link that says “click here to contact Jetpack support.”
    4) Fill in the description box and your name and email address.
    5) Click the “Contact Support” button to send us the debug results privately. It’s best not to post this information on public forums, as it contains private details about your site.

    Thanks!

    Jeremy,

In my desperation I had sent email through the JetPack contact support link last night as well as posted on forum. I was about to do as you suggested with the debug results, but thought I give it one more go at it. I connected and everything seems to be working now. I still don’t know what caused it but am super glad all is right. Thank you for responding.
