• So, other people have posted this question before, but the answer is not clear. What are PUT/POSTs? How do you get to them to fix them?

Here is the cURL error message once more:
We noticed that your site returns a cURL error (?Error: 1 ?). This means that it cannot send a notification to SpecificFeeds.com when a new post is published. Therefore this email-feature doesn’t work. However there are several solutions for this, please visit our FAQ to see the solutions (?Perceived bugs? => ?cURL error messages?):

Could you please update the plugin to the latest version (the one we released an hour ago) and let us know if the issue persists?

I’m not seeing an update to the Ultimate Social Icons and Share Plugin (at least the free version.) Do I need the Premium version to get this update?

No, premium not needed. What plugin version are you currently on?

The instructions to another post were:
The instructions on how to deal with a cURL error are:

Please check the following points (if you don’t know how to do this, please ask your server team or hosting company to do it):

    1. Ensure that cURL is installed and activated on your site
    2. Ensure that no proxy is blocking requests to other servers (e.g. because of a firewall)
    3. Ensure that your server allows PUT/POST requests
    4. Ensure your software is up to date

I do have two plug-ins installed that are supposed to help with cURL:
WiseBuilds cURL options and BackWPup WordPress Backup Plugin. I have no idea what to do with them.

I don’t know how to tell if my firewall is blocking a request to other servers.

I did contact my hosting server to ask about the PUT/POST requests and the person I did a live chat with did seem to know what I was referring to.

My software is all up to date, as far as I can tell.

Do you have the FOR DUMMIES version of fixing the problem?

These are the things to check with your hosting team:

    1. Ensure that cURL is installed and activated on your site
    2. Ensure that no proxy is blocking requests to other servers (e.g. because of a firewall)
    3. Ensure that your server allows PUT/POST requests

Did you already do that? What did they say for each of the above points?

My server wants to know the following:

Do you have any idea if the icon requires us to open a specific port? And do you happen to know the IP to which your site is supposed to send the request?

    Thanks!

Https port 443 and the domain is https://www.specificfeeds.com

How can I check the things mentioned above? I’m creating a student portfolio site and I’m not sure how to or if I should modify any of the admin functions. Should I check out that area of the Dashboard? Since it is a student site, is the hosting team WP themselves, or my school?
