    Hi,

My website has suddenly become incredibly slow for no apparent reason, making it practically unusable. I have checked everything and tried using the Query Plugin, which gave me cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 5000 milliseconds with 0 out of 0 bytes. rsssl_admin->mixed_content_fixer_detected()

Does anyone know how this can be fixed, and if this is likely the issue thats causing the reduced speed?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi @wwanc2021,

This check doesn’t run on the front-end, only when logged in to your site as admin, and then it’s cached.

If the call fails, this is also cached. So even if there is a curl error, this should only temporarily slow down your site.

Is your SSL certificate still valid? Such CURL errors often occur when the certificate has expired.

Hi Rogier, The site has been slow for a number of days now, and the SSL is still valid…

Is there something on your site which constantly clears transients/Wordpress caching data?

In your dashboard, on settings/ssl, does the dashboard show SSL has been activated in Really Simple SSL? If so, the notices list is cached for a days. If not, I’d recommend to activate, which should resolve the issue.
As it’s all cached, it’s very strange you see this continuously.

You can also check if it helps to deactivate, but keep https as default state. You can do this by clicking on the “deactivate” option in the plugins overview. You will get a popup where you can choose to keep https.

Are you running iThemes Security, because that plugin appears to be experiencing similar issues. When I removed the plugin, it did resolve on some of my sites, but not all. Really odd.

Hallo!
