    Hi,

My client imported some product variations via the built in Wooocmmerce import function. The variations have been created as menus instead of products.

Do you have any idea how this could have happened?

I have looked at the CSV file and apart form the fact that there is a duplicate set of columns (the second set as no column headers), the data looks ok?

    Thanks.

This is an interesting scenario. Do you know which import option the client has used?

To import products, one should use Products → All Products → Import Products

Please refer to the default export import documentation for further details.

    Thank you.

Yes, that is the process they used t import the product variations. They have used the same process to import hundreds of products and variations… It has never created menu’s before.

    Hello @gvnet,

    This is certainly unusual!

In WordPress, menus aren’t just a list – they are linked to various post-types like posts, pages or archives pages. To get a better understanding of what might have happened, please check what post type they were given in the menu.

Also, were the products added to the All Products tab as well, or just in the menu?

The importer will tag the posts as products, so even if something went wrong in the import process, under no circumstance the products are imported as something else. : \

May I ask how you exported these products? Did you use the standard export function, or manually arrange the CSV file?

Moreover, please attach a copy of your site’s system status report. You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support” (after you scroll down a bit)”. Once done, please paste it here in your reply or via a text-sharing service like https://gist.github.com/.

Look forward to hearing back from you.
