    Hi deannasonni,

Sorry that you ran into issues here!

In the past, when I’ve seen that error with others, it’s usually because whatever program you’re using to output the final CSV file adds some garbage to the first header column (something like ?>>) and this throws off BD.

If you’re using OpenOffice, which seems to be a common thread, save it in CSV format and then open it using a very simple text editor (like Notepad on Windows or TextEdit on Mac) and the delete that extraneous garbage in the file at the first column, re-save it, and then try the import.

If that doesn’t work, report back and we’ll take it from there!

Thanks, but that didnt work. I’m using excel, saved as a CSV, and I opoened it in text editor and it looks exactly like the example one::

    rating_average,business_name,category,short_business_description_110_characters_or_less,description,website,business_phone_number,business_hours,business_fax,contact_email,street_address,town,continent,state,Zip,Country,state,images,username,sequence_id,expires_on

    Hi deannasonni,

    Hmmm. OK. Let’s try this.

    Can you please post:
    – A link to the actual CSV file with a few lines in it
    – A link to a screenshot showing the field configuration as BD thinks it exists on your Directory Admin->CSV Import page? Use https://imageshack.us if you have to.

That will help me understand the issue better.

fields must be in quotes, you verified that?

    ej:
    line 1: header1,header2,header3
    line 2: “field1″,”field2″,”Field3”

That’s a good point CriterioNet, but would depend on the data being used.

Quotes should be around fields that have separators you’re using inside of them, like commas.

If you have a long description field with a comma inside, you definitely need quotes around it. But you probably don’t need that on all fields, unless you just want to be super careful.
