Hi, all – calling on the collective wisdom! I upgraded to 1.5 yesterday and am excited to use all the new features, but first have to get a handle on a problem with the themes.

I can select one of the themes (all uploaded by ftp to the server), and the admin panel tells me that a new theme is selected, but the display of the page doesn’t change much – remains just plain text. I can tell it is doing something, because sometimes the subtitle of the page is displayed, and other times not. Any thoughts on how I might fix?

    Thanks, all!

gives me a 404, which would suggest that your ftp hasn’t functioned correctly.

I would delete the /themes directory and upload new.

Thanks, podz – I didn’t even know how to begin to diagnose
Huh – seems to show up in the FTP program – deleted wp-content and re-uploaded, but still no dice. I’ll take it up with my service provider at this point, I guess. Thanks – and wish me luck.

hmm- just thinking – could it be a permissions thing? what should I have it set to for that dir and file?

    Thanks!

First off it is not displaying a css file as it has html mixed in, the actual link file comes back not found on server so at the sound of being repiticious, reupload the themes but first delete the old ones

Hi, podz, dawg – thanks for tipping me off. It was actually a really moronic mistake – sorry for the trouble, and thanks for tipping me off. I had just downloaded a new-to-me ftp program (CoffeeCup Free FTP), and had the transfer set to auto. Apparently its auto setting was not quite right. When I went through and transferred style.css as ascii manually, it, of course, worked perfectly.

Thanks for your time – hope this helps someone else. Back to my knitting.
