When I try to view the calendar, none of the plugin css files are being included. I viewed page source and no reference to any css files in plugin directory.

There is a custom header.php in the theme.

The theme is several years old, they are wanting to update it soon, but in the mean time they want the calendar on their website.

Is there a simple way to get the theme to include the CSS files or do I need to do something special?

  • Hey @rresmer,

Thanks for reaching out, happy to help here! ?? This seems to be a styling issue, possibly a theme conflict.

    1. I’d recommend first trying some of the other options under “Events<Settings<Display<Default stylesheet used for events templates.” See if one of the other settings solves your problem. (This is the easy fix.)

    2. If that doesn’t help, test for conflicts to see if it is a problem with the theme or with one of your plugins.

Let me know how that goes, and we’ll work on it from there!

    Thanks for the reply!

So I tried different things on the settings page. Nothing worked.

I switched to the twenty twelve theme (as that is the newest on the site) and the calendar works fine.

So the custom theme header (or theme) is the issue itself.

Any ideas on how to get the css and js files to work in this theme?

    Roxie ??

    Hi Roxie,

Thanks for following up! It does sound as though this could be a theme conflict. Would you be willing to reach out to the theme developer to see if it would be possible to revamp the custom header.php file? It does sound like that is the missing piece to the puzzle.

    Cheers!

    Hi Geoff,

It wasn’t a theme developer that did the theme and the developer is no longer around anywhere.

Is there a way to add the script includes to the theme functions? I looked in the plugin folders and there are a lot of file to include. Can I copy from somewhere or do I need to manually do it one by one?

    Thanks!

    Roxie

    Hi Roxie,

I think the best way about it would still be to open the theme’s header.php file and see exactly how styles are being called in.

It definitely possible to jump right in and enqueue styles but, if the theme is not set up to receive those enqueued styles, then it would be a moot point.

    Cheers!
