• Something really strange is going on here. I have my own customised theme and several separate style.css files which are different colour combinations for my theme. After installation I decided to use a different style.css with different colours. So I copied and pasted the new style.css file over the top of the old one. My theme is the only one there, I have deleted the defualt and classic themes.

Now I know the new style.css has taken effect because I have each theme labelled differently. So when I go to the presentation section that theme number will show. And when I click theme editor I can see that the new file has been uploaded also.

I have uploaded the new style.css (overwrited the old one) file and I can see it has been uploaded in the presentation section. However WP hasn’t applied it and if I go to the location of the style.css file https://www.dogtrainingbasics.info/wp-content/themes/mynicheblog/style.css and download the file it is still using the old one?????

How do you explain that? IF I download the file using my ftp it supplies the new css file. Is WS_FTP playing tricks on me? This is confusing the hell out of me.

    Thanks for your help.
    Mike.

Also when I first upload my own theme it doesn’t show in the presentation section if it is the only one in the theme folder. But if I upload the defualt theme it suddenly does show up.

So when you download https://www.dogtrainingbasics.info/wp-content/themes/mynicheblog/style.css using your browser, it is not the same file as when you use FTP?

Do you have any kind of caching software/plugin that could be serving up another copy of the file somewhere?

    Very weird..

I am not sure why your theme would not show up either, if it was the only one. Just as a test you might try taking the pipe characters out of your theme name in the CSS file, just in case it is an issue with that.. just a wild idea though. Not sure what else to suggest at this point ??

Problem fixed. It suddenly started working. Thanks for your help though.

CSS files get cached by your PC. Make sure to hard refresh (control + F5) after making any changes else it’ll be a while before your browser checks for a new version. ??
