• I just had to restore a backup because the latest version destroys the CSS of the search box. Is there any way to upgrade without wrecking our search boxes?

Any update? I upgraded to 1.8 and tried also 1.8.1 and it broke the CSS of search box results. The new version adds image placeholders and other CSS changes to the results. I had to restore a backup to version 1.7.6.

1.8+ does not even resemble the same plugin. Was this plugin acquired by another or something?

    Hi @hydn
I would like to inform you that version 1.8.0 is a major update for the SearchWP live search plugin. This update includes compatibility with SearchWP Forms and the ability to customize the template for live search results. However, please note that the layout for the default template has changed, which may affect custom CSS that was based on the old template.

To address this issue, you have two options:

    1. Update the CSS for the new template to match your customization.
    2. Import the old template from previous versions, which will override the new template settings.

To import the old template, please follow these steps:

    1. Create a folder inside your theme directory titled “searchwp-live-ajax-search.”
    2. Create a file named “search-results.php” in the new folder and add the following code.

    Hope this helps.

Shouldn’t that be built into the new plugin as a setting for existing installs? Similar to how Autoptimize has done for legacy features in their plugin; so that upgrades are seamless?

Also, 1.8.x is more than DOUBLE the download size compared to 1.7.x. It also slows down website frontend loading.

Disappointed with this overhaul, it wasn’t broke.
