Hello WordPress, I have been quoted from several craigslist “consultant a varying list of prices as well as times to fix. I have a simple problem I am told.

My navigation bar is bleeding into my content section and it makes it hard to read. Some time ago I stopped using google adsense because it looked horrible in the layout an I thought no way,,,

As it turns out the page STILL LOADS it just looks awful and I have not got a clue where to fix it. I don’t really want to tear down my hard work and restart a new blog just because of a simple <TAG></TAG> issue, would your support forum please point me in the direction or give me the advice I need to solve this problem once and for all.

I have not had any luck and I do not want to allow some unknown into my back office admin area where who knows what could happen.

    Sincerely,

    Ryan

    Hello Sam,

I do not understand how I can have so many errors? What would be a good solution for this. The problem only occurred when I uninstalled the darn adsense.

I am not doubting you here Samboll, You say alot of errors and I need a pretty looking blog so that I can have the appearance readable, would you please clarify or tell me where I can go to fix these errors, my time is short and I definitely need a blog that is functional.

I tried the xml export / import and walla the same darn thing.

Can I copy code from another blog into this to fix the layout?

Thank you so much for your assistance.

I’m no expert and haven’t looked at your code, but if that happened to something I did the first thing i would try is to reduce the width of the sidebar in the css. Find the sidebar div in the style sheet and make it smaller, see if that doesn’t shift it out of the main page ??

You’ll need some basic understanding minimum in CSS and HTML if you want to resolve the issues correctly.

Here we can only comment and explain piece by piece, which is going to take ages..

If you need a quick fix, then you need someone qualified or able to look over your template and fix the problems correctly.

The link samboll gave would be a sufficient starting point for anyone versed in both HTML and CSS.

Not trying to rain on anyone’s parade, but if you’re looking for a quick fix you’re not likely to get it here unless someone is feeling very generous…. There’s no reason to suggest anyone here is safer to trust then any of the guys you had quotes from…

I’d always suggest (if possible) that anyone running a CSS, HTML and PHP driven site at least try and run over some basic tutorials so you have a grasp of the code driving your site. Same deal you have with cars, it’s all well owning one, but if you have no idea how any of it functions it becomes a nightmare when something goes wrong, and you stand to get ripped off on repair costs…

If you need to employ someone to fix the problems asap you may wish to try here ….

Again, not trying to be Mr.Negative on the topic, just thought it may be worth while mentioning a few points.

Some of those validation errors are being generated by the use of embed – which I’d class as the one validation exception that can be allowed as it’s still the most accessible method of embedding multimedia files.

Most of the other errors look like the result of pasting content in from MS Word. That needs to stop as it can cause no end of problems.

As for the sidebar width, I agree that it needs to be restricted via CSS but it would help if there was actually a class on the navigation div to work with!
