Crunching of pics produces HTTP error

  • Moved to a new host, and here while I upload a pic, the progress bar shows pic uploading, then I see a message “Crunching”, then everything stops and I see a message “HTTP Error” on top of the bar, and “Dismiss” on the progress bar. The pic does not upload. Is there any settings that need to be changed to resolve this issue?

    what I did recently:
    Pic sizes are around 200k
    Max file upload is 50MB
    in the wp-config.php file I commented out these lines
    define(.DB_CHARSET.,);
    define(.DB_COLLATE.,);
    because the home page was producing a blank page, and after commenting
    and the page is coming up again.

    Still the upload issue exists. Any help please.
