Crop image and preserve original size

    Hello.

    I noticed that when I use crop feature in WP gallery and then save it, it always rewrites the original image. Is it normal behavior? If so, is there a way how to preserve the original image size?

    No, it’s not normal behaviour. The original image should be preserved by default.

    By the way, how are you arriving at the conclusion that “it always rewrites the original image”?

    Note that there will be only ONE thumbnail in the media gallery for all variations of the image… but the original remains and can be restored anytime.
