Cronjob takes over 40 seconds to process

When doing a deep dive into my server logs, I can see that the wp-cron takes well over 40 seconds to run with the vast majority of time spent on NextScripts urls/IPs.

An example below shows that 35.184.36.171 and https://www.nextscripts.com take up more than 96% of the runtime for the wp-cron.

External – 35.184.36.171 – 45,000 ms – 91%
External – https://www.nextscripts.com – 2,370 ms – 5%

What exactly is happening here and is it necessary?

And is there a way I can speed this up at all?
