Nice, but I would change the red color and the text-column is to wide.

the colors are the school colors, I imagine.

the layout is decent except that you have no margins on the right hand side so the right side of the browser window is being “hugged”. That looks really off, given that the left side isnt doing that.

Youre on the right track, but it definitely needs some tuning up.

Why not use the right-side bar in subpagess too?

In my case with a big monitor resolution I am against fluid layout as I get wide lines of text which are hard to read.

On sponsors page you have text aligned to left and than a table aligned to center. It looks ugly on biger resolutions as I have to “rescan” the content when moving from text to content.

All in all: nice clean layout.
But hey…just my point of view.

Yup, colors are the school colors so they can’t change sorry.

whooami, are you reffering to the fact that the sidebar titles flow right to the edge or the browser or something else? I will experiment with pulling the sidebar away from the right-edge later today.

The eventual plan is to have the sidebar present on each page with some relevent information so hopfully that will help to offset the problems of the site looking strange at high-resoloutions.. I’d prefer to keep the current liquid layout but if you lot really think it’s bad I’m open to suggestions! ??

On the sponsers page (and the boats, calendar I guess?), do you think I should left align the tables instead or centering?

Thanks for the feedback it is apreciated!

Yes, and yes. you need space there between the sidebar and the right hand side of the browser.

I ment left align the table (not the content of the table).

now it looks something like this :

    ---------------------------
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxx
    ,,,,,,,,,,|table|
    ,,,,,,,,,,|x|x|x|
    ,,,,,,,,,,|x|x|x|
    ,,,,,,,,,,|x|x|x|
    ,,,,,,,,,,|x|x|x|
    ---------------------------

this way will be much better:

    —————————
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxx
    |table|
    |x|x|x|
    —————————

Ok thanks for the feedback so far, I’ve implemented a few changes you’ve recommended.. let me know what you think! ??

    Much better ??

Another one…I promise the last ??

The green search box will better fit into design if you align it with right side menu tabs. So you should move it more on left & than left align the search field in it to the Categories, Links & Feeds.

Done (I think…)! Is that what you mean?

    Daniel

Yup. Except that I myself would also left align the search field (not entire green box) to titles (Categories, Links & Feeds). So the green box is aligned to green backgrounds of sections & field aligned to words.

    Great job Daniel!

I noticed that the icons on your sidebar line up with the lower portion of text, when the text is too long for one line. It would seem logical for it to line up with the first line.

Yeah that seems to be a bug in IE, it works fine in Firefox and Opera.. anyone know how to solve by any chance? ??

IE 6.0 and below handle CSS pretty poorly, and there are ways to work around this. It’s pretty important to make sure your site looks good in IE because you’ll notice that most of your visitors (unfortunately) will probably use IE.

Yup, colors are the school colors so they can’t change sorry.

There is more than one way to implement colors into a website! I would suggest changing the “main” colors to something neutral and possibly work the red and green into links, etc. In my opinion, it doesn’t look great with all of the red.

    Just my 2c, good luck!

Great job so far. Nevertheless the colors are the school colors, color-blind people with red/green disability will have serious problems to distinct between marked and unmarked menu items.
