My apologies if this isn’t the place but just to warn you all that I got a crirical security warning from Google about a possible sign in to my accounts and they pointed to their own Site Kit plugin which I installed on my website a few days ago and which I gave access to my google accounts

  • Hello @alamshar ,

Thanks for opening a support topic.

While I’ll check this with the team and report back to you here I believe you may encounter this notice for logins or even for authorized apps in different circumstances, not specifically for Site Kit. Using VPN’s, different IP addresses or unusual login patterns may trigger security center notifications.

Please allow me some time to check this before I report back to you here. In the meantime if you could share a screenshot of the error that would be great, I’d like to know if it actually mentions the specific app, it may just be a general notification which was initiated from multiple apps given access, I’d like to see if the message refers to any specific app.

    Best Regards,

This is the screenshot from the “check activity” menu in the google warning which seems to point to it.

Just to keep you updated on this we’re going to discuss this with the team further. From looking at the screenshot you kindly provided this seems to be a log of various notifications, with the “Suspicious App Detected” notice not referencing Site Kit specifically. I suspect that if you’re used the same oAuth system to login to other services and apps this could be coming from any of them, in particular as there are references to passwords being changed – which is not an action related to Site Kit. We will however update you here once we have any further information.

Ok Thank you. I understand that it may not be Site Kit but it was the only app that I gave access to recently. I know that it could still be an older one. I just posted it here to see if anyone was seeing the same issue which doesn’t seem to be the case. I’m happy to reinstall it in a couple of days after I’ve checked there are no issues. I’ll close this as resolved. Thanks for the info
