    This is an odd one. I migrated the site from Siteground to Cloudways yesterday. Now it’s in the new location I have an issue with the Events List views once they’ve been accessed a couple of times (leads me to think it could be caching related).

    So if I browse to here then click into the retreats section and back into here a few times – just browsing around like a normal visitor would it throws a critical error after a while and all events pages appear with the error after that.

    The error in the logs is

    2022-05-12T18:27:06+00:00 CRITICAL Uncaught Error: Call to a member function format() on null in /home/772107.cloudwaysapps.com/wcenwdmjmj/public_html/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/Tribe/Views/V2/Views/Traits/List_Behavior.php:121

    This is using the following display settings
    Default stylesheet used for events templates – Tribe Events Styles
    Events template – Default page
    Use updated calendar designs – On
    Default View – List

    If I switch to skeleton views it works, as do the month and day views. If anyone has any tips on how to work around this issue it would be much appreciated.

    Hi @gekkointernet,

    Thanks for reaching out to us. Sorry to hear that you are having this issue here. Let me help you.

    I’m curious about your setup, are you using Cloudways with Varnish? If so, could you also clear it and see if that makes a difference?

    Moreover, I also suspect that since you’ve migrated, the permalinks might have not been flushed. Could you also try flushing it?

    See the article here:
    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/permalinks-best-practices/

    Let me know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you solve this.

    Best,
    Abz

    Thanks for the response Abz,

    I followed up with technical support and we tried Varnish exclusions / clearing and also the permalinks. It turned out to be a known issue with Redis caching on Cloudways. We’ve disabled Redis for now and it’s working as it should. Obviously I would prefer for the caching options to be enabled but it does resolve the immediate issue.

    So I’ll leave this topic here incase anyone searching is experiencing the same issue and it helps them!

    Hi Rob,

    I’m afraid I’m still experiencing the issue having run all available updates on the site (and clearing the cache) so I’ve had to turn Redis back off again.

    Thanks

    Hi @gekkointernet, that’s not good. I suspect that there’s a latency before it applies to your website. First, could you clear server-side caching and then clear caching on your WordPress (if you have it), then try to enable Redis back the wait for a couple of minutes. Before doing this please make sure that you already updated the plugin.

    Let me know if it solves the issue you’re having.

    Best,
    Abz

    Hi @gekkointernet

    We discover a new issue caused by using the High Performance settings of the REDIS Object Cache Pro plugin. See more on the link below:

    https://objectcache.pro/docs/configuration/#high-performance

    If you are still having issues after updating the plugins, as a workaround try removing the following settings and it should work as expected:

    ‘compression’ => ‘zstd’,
    ‘serializer’ => ‘igbinary’,

    We have an internal ticket to address this (TEC-4379). We don’t have a time estimate to share at the moment, but once there is an update, we’ll be sure to let you know.

    Best,
    Rob
