• Installed the theme, but every time I go to preview it, I get the “There has been a critical error on this website,” message.

Debug log says: PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function gutenberg_block_template_part() in /home/xxx/www/wp-content/themes/blockbase/header.php:16

Using WordPress 5.8.1. Have tried with and without the Gutenberg plugin, just in case. Disabled all other plugins and caching, but still can’t preview or activate the theme. Any suggestions?

    Hello there,

Many thanks for reaching out and reporting this.

Can you tell us the PHP version running for the site please?

Also, can you tell me if this is happening when only previewing the theme, or does this happen with other instances.

    Many thanks.

    PHP 7.4

It seems this error only appears while previewing. If I activate the theme, then I get full site editing options – downside is I have to make changes live, or behind a maintenance page.

    Hello there,

Ok, interesting – thank you for that information. Can you tell me who the hosting provider is.

Also, do you have the option to change the PHP version and to see if this happens with another version of PHP please?

    Many thanks.
