I tried to submit a donation with the “Donate Now” button and get this response:

“There has been a critical error on this website.

    Learn more about troubleshooting WordPress.”

I cannot delete pending donations either from WP admin and receive this instead:

“There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.

    Learn more about troubleshooting WordPress.”

I have tried everything to correct this. Please help! Thanks!

  • I am seeing this “critical error” message not specifically on GiveWP, but more generally (and intermittantly) on Safari Mac. I clear the cache and it goes away. Try that or accessing the page in Chrome or another browser or mobile device to see if that helps.

Safari -> Preferences -> Privacy -> Manage Website Data -> (enter website url) and Remove. No need to Remove All. You will have to log into your WordPress site again as the cookies have been cleared.

I’m having the exact same issues. It’s been like this for 7 days. No one’s fixing the issue. It seems a lot of people are having this problem. I would think it’s a GiveWP issue. Maybe from the last update,

    I’m also having this problem.

Experiencing the same issue, still looking for a solution. What I’ve realized was that the payment goes through and GiveWP function as supposed to, after upgrading the site to PHP8.0, but other sides of my site crash as it was not compatible with that version of PHP. Thus still looking for a fix. If your site is compatible with PHP8 then this fix might work for you.

    Hi @willible,

Whenever you see the “There has been a critical error on this website.” error. WordPress will email the full error message to the site admin. Can you post the full error message in your next reply.

Also, include the System Info located in Donations -> Tools -> System info. This will give us a better context as to what’s going on.

    Thanks!
