• Hello,

We tried updating the plugin today to the latest version (1.3) and got a critical error on our website caused by this plugin.

We have removed the plugin for now but would like to use it in the future. How can this be resolved?

    Thank you

Hi @igscb sorry you’re experiencing this issue. We cannot recreate this on our end so it would be helpful if you could provide additional information.

Is the critical error on the front-end of the site, in the admin or both?

    What settings are you using?

Is anything being logged in the WordPress debug log when this error occurs?

    I received a similar error

An error of type E_PARSE was caused in line 149 of the file /home/www/ops/wp-content/plugins/expire-user-passwords/includes/class-login-screen.php. Error message: syntax error, unexpected ‘)’

This was received the minute the plugin was updated. It did not allow me to update any other plugin and I couldn’t access the front and back end of our site.

Thank you, this is very helpful. Are you able to determine what version of WordPress and what version of PHP you are running? We are testing on several different versions today to attempt to isolate this issue and fix it.

Hi, do you mind trying to reinstalling the plugin on your site? We have tested this on multiple sites and run the entire code base through a ‘linter’ plugin (to make sure the syntax does not have errors; particularly in the place where you are getting the errors).

We’re wondering if maybe the plugin did not install correctly from the repository. If it persists, it would be great if you could send us the zip of the plugin to [email protected] so we can see what code is being installed on the site from the WordPress repository.

    Thank you!
