Hi, I’m new to creating websites period and have no experience outside of what I’ve done via the Dashboard, do not know how to code, etc., but Jetpack notified me that my site went down as of yesterday evening. I was not working on it at the time, but if you go to the web address, it says: “There has been a critical error on your website. Learn more about debugging in WordPress.” I cannot access the Dashboard when I try to sign into www.remarpro.com, and I don’t have a handy email telling me what’s wrong as it seems some people do.

I can see the “activity log,” and it appears that 10 minutes after Easy Digital Downloads 2.9.20, Easy Social Post Feed 5.1.5, and iThemes Security 7.5.0 plugins were automatically updated, the site went down, so I’m assuming this may have something to do with it? I had not signed in to download the latest version of WordPress yet. I’m finding advice online that I don’t understand and I don’t want to make things worse, so could use some assistance. My site is currently being referenced by future job prospects so I do need it up and running again in a timely fashion. Apologies for not knowing more but I work two jobs and basically watched training videos to help me build a site in the little time I had. Thanks for your help!

The error also says: “Learn more about debugging in WordPress.”

Please check the error logs on your server for a more specific error message, which may give a clue to why this is happening on your website/server. If you need help locating them, ask your hosting provider to help you with that.

If you cannot find error logs or if you don’t find any helpful info in the error logs, try Enabling debugging

    Meanwhile, try:

manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    – If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

My first question is… “How did you manage to post this on the support forum if you can’t log in into www.remarpro.com?”. This forum is on www.remarpro.com.

If you can’t log in to your own site instead then you might need this info.

I did look at your website so I’m a bit suspicious of those plugins you have installed.

BTW: Your host is Bluehost… I have seen some 500 errors from your site… so did Sucuri.

You might need to call Bluehost about those but I’d probably still suspect the plugins first.

Thanks so much; I got in touch with Bluehost and they were able to point me towards the error logs and determine which plugin was causing the issue. He deactivated Elementor and deactivated/reactivated Easy Social Post Feed, which seems to have been updated during our call and is now working properly.
