• Hi,

I get a critical error when I try to access “Widgets”. To identify the problem I created a staging site and once that was set up I first confirmed that the error was still there. I then disabled all plugins and I was able to access “Widgets” again. I then enabled the plugins one by one, but to my surprise the error is no longer there and I can still access “Widgets” without issues (on the staging site).

Not sure what this indicates though – but my question is, can I just do the same on the main site without losing critical settings for the site to function? Or do I need to configure all the plugins again? I haven’t been able to find the answer to this question.

UPDATE I tried a new staging site and disabled plugins one by one instead – and it appears it is the core Woocommerce plugin that causes the issue. So if I disable and then enable that plugin, it solves the issue. I just need to find out if I can do that without “breaking” anything in settings or otherwise.

    Thanks!

  • Woocommerce was updated?
make sure for required php ver and Woocommerce php modules.
after update, software requirements may be higher/vary.

Yes, I updated Woocommerce, it didn’t help.

I will dig into your suggestions also. But I can’t figure out why disabling and then enabling Woocommerce on the staging seems to fix the issue – and more importantly, if I can just try the same thing on the main site without breaking any Woocommerce settings/other?

Have you checked your server logs? They should have information on what is causing the critical error when viewing the Widgets page. This should help to figure out what more precisely what is causing the error.
