    Hi Everest Backup,

I have installed Everest Backup on my website, and have successfully created a backup. Unfortunately, when I press on the “Information” tab in the Everest Backup Settings page, I’m shown this message:

“There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.”

A minute after I visit the “Information” tab, I get this email:

    G’day!

Since WordPress 5.2 there is a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email.

In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, Everest Backup.

First, visit your website (https://www.WEBSITE.com.au/) and check for any visible issues. Next, visit the page where the error was caught (https://www.WEBSITE.com.au/wp-admin/admin.php?page=everest-backup-settings&tab=information) and check for any visible issues.

Please contact your host for assistance with investigating this issue further.

If your site appears broken and you can’t access your dashboard normally, WordPress now has a special “recovery mode”. This lets you safely login to your dashboard and investigate further.

    https://www.WEBSITE.com.au/login/?action=enter_recovery_mode&rm_token=KkaqqC6m95OAk0cc2kbskF&rm_key=qQOtl59mYsYIN03mkxeA74

To keep your site safe, this link will expire in 1 day. Don’t worry about that, though: a new link will be emailed to you if the error occurs again after it expires.

When seeking help with this issue, you may be asked for some of the following information: WordPress version 6.7.1 Active theme: UiCore Pro (version 2.0.1) Current plugin: Everest Backup (version 2.2.15) PHP version 8.0.30

Error Details ============= An error of type E_USER_ERROR was caused in line 24 of the file /home/r1b0ve2rb57n/WEBSITE.com.au/wp-content/plugins/everest-backup/vendor/composer/platform_check.php. Error message: Composer detected issues in your platform: Your Composer dependencies require a PHP version “>= 8.1.0”. You are running 8.0.30.

Can someone please help fix this and explain why this happened?

    Thanks!

    Hello @cljason

The issue is caused by your server running PHP 8.0.30, while Everest Backup requires PHP 8.1.0 or higher. To fix this, please upgrade your PHP version to 8.1.0 or higher. You can do this through your hosting provider or contact their support.

We’re also working on making Everest Backup fully compatible with earlier PHP versions in future updates.

Let us know if you need further assistance!

    Best,
    Prabin
