• Hello! I have courses on my website but when you go to the course page and click on “Continue” or go to any of the course lessons, you see the “There has been a critical error” message. You can successfully see all the courses and lessons on the backend and edit them, but when you go to the View Course link, you see this error.

The PHP version is 7.4. The LearnPress version is 4.2.6.4.

    Please help.

    Hi alexandralem,

    Thank you for reaching out!

To resolve the issue, please try updating LearnPress to the latest version (currently 4.2.7.3). This update may address the error you are encountering.

If the issue persists after the update, kindly contact us again. If possible, provide a screenshot or a video of the steps leading to the error. This will help us analyze the problem and provide a more accurate solution.

    Looking forward to your update!

    Hello Brianvu-tp,

I’ve updated the plugin to the to the latest version but the issue persists.

Here is the link to the video of how the plugin behaves.

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/14bocPToiC3cjhyS8iJSnAn54pLtn4XBQ/view?usp=sharing

    1. When I go to see the course and click on Continue, it shows me 503 error.
    2. When I go to Lessons and choose a Lesson, I can edit it but when I click on View link, I get 503 error. I chose a different lesson to show that the issue persists on every lesson.

    The debug.log is empty.

    Best regards,

    Alexandra

    Hi Alexandra,

Thank you for providing the detailed explanation and video!

After reviewing the video, it seems the 503 error might be related to restricted access or server-side blocking. Please try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:

    Step 1: Check Wordfence Firewall

    1. Go to Wordfence > Tools.
    2. Look for any blocked requests related to LearnPress, especially those involving API calls.
    3. If you find any blocked requests, select ADD PARAM TO FIREWALL ALLOWLIST to whitelist them and prevent future blocking.

    Step 2: Disable Caching Plugins

Sometimes caching plugins can interfere with LearnPress functionality. Try temporarily disabling any caching plugin you have installed and see if the issue persists.

Step 3: Test for Plugin Conflict

    1. Deactivate all plugins except LearnPress.
    2. Check if the issue still occurs.
    3. If the issue is resolved, reactivate the plugins one by one to identify which one is causing the conflict.

Step 4: Switch to Default Theme

Switch your current theme to a default WordPress theme like Twenty Twenty-Four and check if the issue still occurs. This will help determine if the problem is related to the theme you are using.

Please give these steps a try and let me know the results. If the issue persists, we’ll investigate further.

    Best regards,
    Brianvu-tp
