    Dear Support Gurus

Since updating my NGG to 3.54, I am unable to access the WP Admin pages without removing the NGG plugin folder from my plugins folder.

The site and the gallery appear to be working correctly for visitors and logged in users, but I cannot go to the wp-admin dashboard as the site reports a critical error.

I have also received the following in email from WordPress

    G'day!

Since WordPress 5.2 there is a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email.

In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, NextGEN Gallery.

First, visit your website (https://actatc.org/) and check for any visible issues. Next, visit the page where the error was caught (https://actatc.org/wp-admin/update-core.php?[REDACTED]) and check for any visible issues.

Please contact your host for assistance with investigating this issue further.

If your site appears broken and you can't access your dashboard normally, WordPress now has a special "recovery mode". This lets you safely login to your dashboard and investigate further.

    https://actatc.org/actatc-login/?action=enter_recovery_mode&rm_token=[REDACTED]

To keep your site safe, this link will expire in 1 day. Don't worry about that, though: a new link will be emailed to you if the error occurs again after it expires.

When seeking help with this issue, you may be asked for some of the following information:

    WordPress version 6.4.1

Active theme: Sixteen Plus (version 3.4.4)

Current plugin: NextGEN Gallery (version 3.54)

    PHP version 8.1.26

    Can you help

  • I have the same issue and have had to temporarily disable the plugin altogether. Even enabling just the Starter plugin on its own causes the error.

    Hi @anguscs,

We are sorry to hear of the problem. Could you please enable WP_DEBUG from your site’s wp_config.php file, then let us know what’s the error that you are getting? It usually should point to a file that triggers it.

    Thanks

    Dear Imagely.

This is the error I am getting in my Debug log

[07-Dec-2023 21:27:41 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Cannot declare class M_Attach_To_Post, because the name is already in use in /home/cssec842/public_html/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/attach_to_post/module.attach_to_post.php on line 6

    Hi @anguscs,

Thanks for providing us with the error code.

This looks like a PHP OPCache related problem, so let’s delete NextGen Gallery then clear OPCache (or ask the hosting support to do that for you) then install the latest version of NextGen Gallery.

    Hope this helps!

I hope this will not delete all of the configuration I have for my many Galleries and Albums?

Thank you. All done caches cleared and app re-installed. All is good with ngg again.

This ticket can be closed as Resolved.

Install a cache clearing plugin, uninstall ngg, clear caches, re-install ngg and voila
