Hello, the website designer for this site is no longer available, and I am in the process of remaking this site from scratch. When I went to grab the event info, it says on the page: “There has been a critical error on this website.”
I logged into her WordPress, discovered the plugin needed updating to work. I clicked to update it, but nothing happened. Tried several times in different browsers, still nothing. I found this article: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/manual-updates/ Since I don’t have access to the FTP, I went with the 2nd option, deleting the plugin via the WordPress dashboard. I followed all the steps, but while installing the latest version I’d just downloaded, it gave me the error:
    “Destination folder already exists. /www/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/”
How do we get this page up and running again… please help! Thanks ??

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @ellal,

Thanks for reaching out to us. Sorry to hear that you’re having this issue here. It seems like you can’t delete the existing file on your WP Dashboard regardless you’ve already removed it in your WP Dashboard, and when you try to re-install it gives out an error that it is already existing.

I suspect that it might not have been deleted. I suggest contacting your hosting provider if they could give you FTP access or delete the specific plugin, so you could install a fresh version of the plugin. This issue occurs when there’s not enough file permission on your files.

We’d recommend having a working backup of your website always, just to be safe, and you would be able to revert to a last working state of your website.

Let me know how it goes. I’d be glad to help you out further on our end.

    Best,
    Abz
